Frequently Asked Questions
Our qualified and experienced electrical technicians are happy to share their knowledge with you. Read on below to find the answers to some commonly asked questions, and if you’d like to know more about any electrical service, please call us on 07 3712 0653.
Can you advise me on the right smoke detector for my home?
Absolutely. The regulations around smoke detectors change regularly, so it’s a good idea to have an expert electrician inspect your home and advise you on installing the best smoke detector to keep you and your family safe.
Why does my home’s safety switch keep tripping?
It could be a faulty appliance. To find the culprit, unplug all your electrical appliances (particularly the fridge, air conditioners, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer) and reset the circuit breaker. Then, plug the appliances back in and switch them on one at a time until you can identify the problem. If you can’t reset the breaker, call Electrolite on 07 3712 0653 for advice.
Does my home’s very old electrical wiring need to be replaced?
The best way to find out is with a detailed inspection from Electrolite’s experienced electrical contractors. Get in touch online or call our friendly team on 07 3712 0653 to arrange a time for us to check it out.
Can Electrolite electricians help with my Brisbane home renovations?
Yes! Talk to one of our contractors in the planning stages of your renovation. We can advise you on when power will need to be switched off or pulled out, book in electrical work to fit in with your builder’s schedule and order any special electrical fittings ahead of time.
Can you change light fittings and electrical wiring as part of renovating my older home?
Absolutely! Again, if you’re planning a major renovation or wiring change for your home in Brisbane, we strongly suggest kicking it off with a site inspection by one of our experienced electricians.
How can I tell if my home’s wiring has been done by a ‘home handyman’?
Unlicensed electrical work, including “DIY” electrical work, is illegal in Australia. It can cost you money, or far worse, cause injury or death. If you suspect your new home’s wiring has been illegally modified, we strongly suggest you contact Electrolite for the peace of mind of an electrical safety inspection.
Could my home’s ceiling insulation around down lights be a fire hazard?
Yes, incorrectly installed ceiling insulation can be a hazard. Electrolite’s trained and licensed electricians can inspect your home to ensure the correct clearances have been left around light-fittings, and heat guards installed around downlights.
Will I need a new switchboard when installing new air conditioners?
It’s possible, depending on the size of your home’s mains cable and the size of the air conditioner you’re installing. To find out, call Electrolite’s experienced Brisbane electricians on 07 3712 0653 for an inspection.
I’ve been burnt before by tradies not turning up on time. Will Electrolite turn up when you say you will?
Yes. Part of the Electrolite culture is that our team of electricians respect your time and are committed to doing everything we can to arrive when we promise. If we are unavoidably delayed (eg. if another job runs over time), we’ll call you to let you know immediately.
You can also enquire about booking our first appointment slot of the day. Our guys will arrive on time and ready to work at 7am!
